New Delhi, May 15 (PTI) Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Friday said India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047 must be anchored in ethics, social harmony and collective responsibility.
Delivering the Mahatma Hansraj Memorial Lecture at the Hansraj College under Delhi University, Sandhu described Mahatma Hansraj as an educationist, philanthropist and an “unsung hero of India’s cultural renaissance”.
“Engaged with students on India’s deep-rooted civilisational ethos, where progress is inseparable from the spirit of Seva,” Sandhu posted on X.
“India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat@2047 is not merely about economic growth but holistic development rooted in ethics, social harmony and collective responsibility,” he added.
Sandhu said the vision of a developed India, articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, derives its strength from the character, commitment and aspirations of the youth.
Congratulating the students who were felicitated for qualifying the UPSC and state civil services examinations, he urged the aspiring civil servants to ensure that governance remains grounded in integrity, empathy and service to the people.
Sandhu also told them to view public authority as a responsibility rather than a privilege.
