Imphal, Sep 7 (PTI) Vice President C P Radhakrishnan will visit the INA Museum and war memorial in Manipur’s Moirang and the Sainik School here during his day-long tour of the state on Tuesday, officials said.
Radhakrishnan is on a four-day visit to the northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh from September 6 to 9.
According to officials, he would arrive at the Imphal airport onboard a special IAF aircraft at 10.30 am on Tuesday.
The vice-president would then proceed to the INA museum and INA war memorial at Moirang in Bishnupur district by road, before returning to Imphal and to visit the Sainik School.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh would accompany the vice-president during his visit to the Sainik School, the senior official said.
Radhakrishnan would leave for Arunachal Pradesh’s capital Itanagar at 4.30 pm, the official said.
Security has been tightened across the state ahead of the high-profile visit, with the deployment of additional personnel in various parts of Imphal and Bishnupur district.
Radhakrishnan arrived in Assam on Sunday. He attended the golden jubilee celebrations of Geetanagar College in Guwahati and inaugurated its new academic building before addressing the convocation ceremony of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences.
On Monday, he laid the foundation stone of a Rs 110-crore infrastructure development project at Gauhati University and addressed the gathering.
The vice president is set to proceed to Shillong in Meghalaya later in the day, where he will attend a public reception and cultural programme at Soso Tham Auditorium. PTI COR NSD
