Dehradun, Sep 24 (PTI) Uttarakhand’s Garhwal Division Commissioner Anand Swaroop on Thursday ordered registration of FIRs in eight land fraud cases and directed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in another during a meeting of the Land Fraud Coordination Committee here.
During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted of various cases reported from different districts of the Garhwal Division, including land fraud, encroachment on government land, land transfers based on forged documents, and the unauthorised subdivision of land into smaller plots.
A total of 56 land fraud cases were discussed, in which the commissioner ordered the concerned sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs), tehsildars, and departmental officials to examine the records and facts and submit detailed investigation reports, while the remaining 12 cases were disposed of.
Swaroop also instructed officials not to treat complaints on encroachment of government land lightly at any level, directing them to conduct effective and impartial investigations into every complaint and take strict action against the guilty.
The commissioner instructed all SDMs, tehsildars, and officials from municipal corporations and local bodies to examine complaints regarding the occupation and encroachment of government land on a priority basis.
He said if a complaint is found to be valid, the revenue officers, police, and municipal departments should coordinate to conduct an investigation and take immediate action in accordance with the rules. PTI DPT KSI
