Dehradun, Sep 13 (PTI) A man in Dehradun was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife and giving triple talaq to her, officials said on Sunday.
According to police, the accused, identified as Farman, was arrested in Patel Nagar after a written complaint by his wife on Saturday. In her complaint, the woman claimed that Farman harassed and physically assaulted her, and pronounced triple talaq.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) alongside the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act.
