Dehradun, June 12 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday condoled the demise of shooter Jaspal Rana, saying it was an irreparable loss to the sports world.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Dhami termed the passing of the Padma Shri awardee and “son of Uttarakhand” as an irreparable loss to the sports world, the state, and the nation.
“The news of the sudden demise of Shri Jaspal Rana ji, the pride of the Indian shooting world, is extremely painful,” the chief minister said.
Highlighting Rana’s legacy, Dhami said his extraordinary contribution to shooting, historic achievements, and the inspiration he provided to young athletes brought immense pride to India on the global stage.
“His personality and work will always remain a source of inspiration for future generations,” Dhami.
Rana, one of India’s finest pistol shooters who made a hugely successful transition to coaching and guided Manu Bhaker to epoch-making twin bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, died after battling cardiac complications. PTI AKY AKY DV DV
