Varanasi (UP), Jul 28 (PTI) As part of the 650th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Ravidas Maharaj, soil from his birthplace at Seer Govardhan here will be collected in 131 urns and sent to 27 states to propagate his message of social harmony and humanity, a BJP leader said here.
National president of the BJP’s Scheduled Caste Morcha Lal Singh Arya said the party is set to launch the ‘Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Social Harmony Campaign’ across the country from July 29, 2026, to February 20, 2027, with “the primary objective of taking Sant Ravidas ji’s ideals of social harmony, equality, and brotherhood to the masses.
He said that a special programme would be held at Sant Ravidas Maharaj’s birthplace on July 29 on the occasion of Guru Purnima, which will be attended by BJP chief Nitin Nabin, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, UP BJP chief Pankaj Chaudhary, and seers from across the country.
To review preparations for the event, general secretary (organisation) of the UP BJP Dharmpal Singh held a meeting on Monday at the Circuit House in Varanasi.
Arya said that the programme would include the worship and ‘aarti’ of the 131 urns filled with soil from the birthplace, followed by a public meeting. For this purpose, 131 teams from various parts of the country will arrive at Seer Govardhanpur on July 28 to fill the urns with the sacred soil.
He said that on July 30, all 131 urns would be dispatched via vehicles to 98 organisational districts in Uttar Pradesh, as well as to 27 states and six regions across the country. Through these urns, the sacred soil from the birthplace will be taken to villages and localities nationwide, where it will be worshipped.
He added that a ‘Deepotsav’ (festival of lights) would be celebrated in temples across the country on July 29, and every section of society would be connected to this campaign through the ‘Kalash Vandan’ ritual. PTI COR NAV RT RT
