Upset Deora writes to BMC chief for not inviting him to civic body event

Stay updated with ThePrint:

Mumbai, Nov 6 (PTI) Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora on Friday wrote to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ashwini Bhide expressing displeasure over not being invited to a government function.

He was not invited for the distribution of houses to sanitation workers under the ‘Ashray’ scheme in South Mumbai’s Colaba area, he wrote in the letter.

The function was held on Friday in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Mayor Ritu Tawde, Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi and senior civic officials were present.

However, Deora, who represents Maharashtra in the Rajya Sabha and had earlier served as a two-time MP from South Mumbai and also as a Union minister, was not extended an invitation.

Elected public representatives must be accorded due respect and recognition at government functions, particularly those concerning development projects in their constituencies, Deora said in the letter.

He urged the BMC to ensure that established protocol was strictly followed in future. PTI PR KRK
