Lucknow, Jul 13(PTI) A woman was arrested for allegedly beating her six-year-old niece to death in a village under the Indiranagar Police Station, officials said on Sunday.

The incident, which occurred on June 28, came to light after the child’s father filed a murder complaint at the Indiranagar Police Station, the police said.

Three months ago, Rubina took her niece, Aisa, to live with her on the pretext of educating her. Aisa’s father, Shamshuddin, a labourer, received a call from Rubina on June 28 morning, informing him of his daughter’s death,” Station House Officer (SHO) Sunil Kumar Tiwari said.

In his complaint, Shamshuddin alleged that when he arrived at Rubina’s house with other family members, she was evasive about the circumstances surrounding Aisa’s death.

Rubina allegedly arranged for a vehicle and sent the body back to their village without providing any explanation.

Upon reaching their village, the family prepared Aisa’s body for last rites when they discovered multiple injury marks on her body and immediately informed the Mehmoodabad police, who then took the body for post-mortem examination.

“The post-mortem report confirmed Aisa died due to a head injury. In addition to the fatal head wound, the report also identified six other distinct injury marks on the child’s body,” the SHO added.

Aisa’s father approached the Indiranagar police on July 8 and filed a complaint against Rubina. An FIR was registered, following which Rubina was arrested on Saturday.

During interrogation, Rubina allegedly confessed that the child died due to injuries sustained from being beaten, the SHO said. PTI CDN MPL MPL
