Hardoi (UP), Aug 1 (PTI) Two men were killed over a love affair dispute after being attacked by a group of assailants, officials said on Saturday, adding that police have arrested two men and detained three juveniles in the matter.
Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Subodh Gautam said the bodies of two youths were found on July 30 near the Takia-Atamau road on the Atrauli route in the Sandila area. The deceased were identified as Arun Chaurasia and Abhishek Chaurasia.
Both of them had sustained severe head and facial injuries, he said.
The ASP said the investigation revealed that Arun was allegedly in contact with the sister of one of the juveniles detained in the case. Angered over the relationship, the juvenile and his associates allegedly conspired to eliminate him.
According to the police, on the night of July 29, the accused allegedly called Arun and Abhishek to a secluded place on the pretext of a meet-up. The group went to the terrace of an abandoned house where they were allegedly attacked with sticks, bricks and stones.
According to the police, when Abhishek tried to flee, he was chased and assaulted by the accused. Arun was later allegedly shot in the face with an illegal firearm after the assailants found that he was still alive.
Gautam said the accused also took away the victims’ mobile phones and attempted to mislead investigators by keeping the phones active and allegedly handing them over to others to avoid location tracking.
During interrogation, one of the accused, identified as Pramod, allegedly told police that he had earlier discussed with Abhishek ways to evade police detection after committing a murder. Police said they are verifying the claims.
Inspector General of Police Kiran S and Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena supervised the investigation, and multiple teams, including police, SWAT and surveillance units, were formed to crack the case.
Police arrested Kuldeep and Pramod, both residents of Takia in Sandila, while three juveniles were taken into custody.
An illegal country-made pistol, an empty cartridge, two bamboo sticks, bricks, stones, and two mobile phones allegedly belonging to the victims were recovered, police said. PTI COR CDN SHS
