Muzaffarnagar (UP), Jul 17 (PTI) Ahead of the Kanwar Yatra, police have begun serving notices to DJ operators, warning them to strictly adhere to noise limits and vehicle height regulations, a police officer said on Friday.

Officials have warned that non-compliance will result in severe action, including the seizure of their equipment.

Police have identified at least 348 operators from Ghaziabad, Delhi, Sonipat, Faridabad, Karnal, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Noida and initiated the process of serving notices to ensure compliance as per established norms and guidelines for the Kanwar Yatra, Superintendent of Police (City) Amrit Jain told reporters on Friday.

These steps have been taken to ensure the safety of Kanwar pilgrims, he added.

The Kanwar Yatra will start on July 30 and conclude on August 11. During this period, devotees of Lord Shiva will collect holy water from the Ganga in Haridwar, carry it back on foot and offer it to Lord Shiva in temples across Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and western Uttar Pradesh.
