UP: Police constable drowns in Banda

Banda (UP), Jun 28 (PTI) A 27-year-old police constable posted in Banda district drowned on Sunday at the confluence of the Ken and Yamuna rivers, a police official said.

Circle Officer (Sadar) Saurabh Singh said that the deceased, identified as Constable Anurag Singh Bhadauria, 27, posted at the Chilla police station, had gone to bathe at the confluence of the two rivers on Sunday morning without informing anyone. He subsequently drowned there.

He said that acting on information provided by villagers, police reached the spot and, with the help of local divers, recovered his body and sent it for a post-mortem.

The CO said Bhadauria, a native of Kanpur district, was recruited as a constable in 2019 and was transferred from the Kamasin police station to the Chilla police station on May 26. PTI COR NAV SHS
