Sambhal (UP), Sep 14 (PTI) Two-quintal boondi laddoo was offered at the Ganesh temple on Ganesh Chaturthi by a group of Muslims at Chandausi town of Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district.
“This laddoo is a symbol of mutual brotherhood and communal harmony. This year, it weighs two quintals. We offer it to Lord Ganesh with devotion and pray that his blessings remain with all of us,” said Ishaq Baig who was part of the group that made the offering at the temple on Sita Raod.
He said this tradition of offering laddoo began in 2001 and has continued every year since then.
A grand Ganesh Rath Yatra was taken out in Chandausi on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, with large automated tableaux and idols of Lord Ganesh moving through parts of the town.
Union Minister B L Verma inaugurated the Rath Yatra, which would continue through the town until late night.
Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with religious fervour across Chandausi, with devotees installing idols of Lord Ganesh in homes. Chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya” echoed in several parts of the town. PTI COR ABN SKY SKY
