Ballia (UP), Sep 8 (PTI) A 30-year-old man sustained a severe head injury when an unidentified person allegedly hurled a stone at the moving Gondia-Barauni Express train here, police said on Tuesday.
The injured passenger, Abhishek Kumar Singh, a resident of Bhagwanpur village in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, was travelling from his home town to Prayagraj when the incident happened.
Based on his complaint, a case has been registered under Section 152 of the Railways Act at the Government Railway Police (GRP) Station in Ballia, officials said.
According to the FIR, Singh was travelling on train number 15231, the Gondia-Barauni Express, on Monday and was seated on berth number 23 in coach S-4 while travelling from Muzaffarpur to Prayagraj. As the train moved ahead from Suremanpur railway station, an unidentified person allegedly threw a stone at the train, hitting Singh on his head.
After the train reached Ballia railway station, the Railway Protection Force and the GRP teams deboarded the injured passenger and took him to the district hospital for treatment, police said.
