Lucknow, Apr 18 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi on Saturday announced that a three-day ‘Rashmirathi Parv’ will be held here beginning April 24 to mark the diamond jubilee year of Hindi poem Rashmirathi.

The poem, written by poet Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’, chronicles the life of the Mahabharata character Karna.

Speaking to reporters at the Lok Bhavan in Lucknow, Shahi said that the event will serve as a medium to convey the nation’s cultural heritage, the ideals of its great personalities, and the values of nation-building to the new generation.

He added that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has placed emphasis on awakening a spirit of nationalism among the youth through theatrical and poetic performances based on the lives of these eminent figures.

He informed that the programme will be held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan from April 24, coinciding with the death anniversary of Dinkar, during which a commemorative souvenir titled ‘Rashmirathi Se Samvad’ will be released.

Following this, a grand theatrical performance based on ‘Rashmirathi’, depicting episodes from the life of Karna, will be presented.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be present as the chief guest, while the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan will serve as the keynote speaker. Several dignitaries, including the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Jaiveer Singh, and Rajya Sabha member Dinesh Sharma, will participate as Guests of Honour. PTI NAV AMJ AMJ
