Sambhal, Sep 9 (PTI) A drone survey of a 15-20 km stretch of the Sot river in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal has helped the district administration identify spots where the river had narrowed, following which cleaning and excavation work was undertaken to ensure the smooth flow of water, officials said on Wednesday.
The survey was carried out under the direction of Chandausi Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ashutosh Tiwari in the presence of a revenue team, following directions from District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal, according to an official release.
The surveyed stretch passes through villages including Aitol, Kaithal, Buddh Nagar Khandua and Adampur.
The drone survey was conducted as part of the administration’s “One District-Five Rivers” campaign aimed at conserving water bodies and ensuring the natural flow of rivers.
Officials said the Sot river had earlier undergone revival work, which was also mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his “Mann Ki Baat” programme.
The district administration is currently implementing the “One District-Five Rivers” campaign under Khandelwal’s direction, with revival work also being undertaken on the Vardhaman and Mahishmati rivers, the release said.
According to the administration, water is currently flowing through stretches where river revival work had been completed before the monsoon.
