Lucknow, Sep 28 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday paid tributes to freedom fighter Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary, saying he had made India’s Independence the sole objective of his life and “sacrificed everything” for it.
“Bhagat Singh’s courage, sacrifice and martyrdom in defending the nation’s self-respect and glory would continue to inspire generations,” Adityanath said on X.
Singh was born on September 28, 1907, in Banga in undivided Punjab and became one of the most prominent figures of India’s revolutionary movement through his writings and political activism. He was executed by the British on March 23, 1931, at the age of 23.
In another post, the chief minister paid tribute to legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on her birth anniversary, describing her as the “Swar Samragyi” and a recipient of the Bharat Ratna.
“Her contribution to enriching India’s musical heritage and her dedication to the art of singing would remain etched in golden letters and serve as an inspiration for future generations,” he added.
Mangeshkar was born on September 28, 1929, in Indore and became one of India’s most celebrated playback singers, recording songs in several Indian languages during a career spanning more than seven decades. She died in Mumbai on February 6, 2022, at the age of 92, and was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 2001 for her contribution to music. PTI KIS DV
