Saharanpur, Jul 22 (PTI) The bodies of two teenagers, swept away in a rain-fed stream in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district, were recovered nearly 16 hours after the incident, police said on Tuesday.

According to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sagar Jain, the incident took place on Monday evening in Bacheti village.

Wajid, 13, and Azeem, 12, had gone towards a forested area after school hours when they accidentally slipped and were swept away by the strong current of a seasonal stream.

When the boys did not return home by evening, their families began searching for them. Some local residents informed the families that they had seen the children heading towards the forest, the officer said.

Upon receiving the alert, senior officials reached the site, and a search operation was launched. After nearly 16 hours of continuous searching, the bodies were retrieved, police said. PTI COR KIS RHL
