Etawah, Sep 2 (PTI) A 70-year-old man was allegedly murdered while he was sleeping in a cattle shed here, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Paramdham village under the Ekdil police station area during the intervening night of September 1 and 2, when the victim, Siddh Swarup, was sleeping in the shed to guard his milch cattle, they said.

Ekdil SHO Vikram Singh Chauhan said the man was attacked on the head with a heavy and sharp-edged object by an unidentified assailant, who fled the spot after the murder.

The victim’s blood-soaked body was found lying on a cot in the cattle shed by a milkman who arrived there in the morning. He alerted the family, following which the police were informed.

Police reached the spot, conducted the inquest and sent the body for post-mortem, the SHO said.

Investigators also collected evidence from the scene and questioned the victim’s family members and villagers as part of the probe, he said. PTI COR KIS APL APL

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
