Agra, May 2 (PTI) Three labourers died after allegedly falling along with a girder from an under-construction house in Agra’s Etmadpur area on Saturday, police said.
The incident took place in the Trans Yamuna Colony, where five labourers were working at a house owned by Ravi Pratap, they said, adding that the deceased were identified as Ranjit, 35, Munna Lal, 52, and Jagdish, 40.
According to officials, the three labourers were constructing a storage structure on the second floor when a girder suddenly collapsed, causing them to fall to the ground along with it.
Local residents rushed to the spot and helped pull the labourers out of the debris. Ranjit died on the spot, while Munna Lal and Jagdish, who were critically injured, were admitted to a medical college where they later succumbed during treatment, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Ali Abbas said that police teams were rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information, and carried out rescue operations.
“The bodies of the deceased are being sent for post-mortem. The exact cause and circumstances of the incident are being investigated,” he said. PTI COR CDN SHS SHS
