Union minister, Telangana ministers attend yoga day celebrations

Hyderabad, Jun 21 (PTI) Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Telangana Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha Transport and BC Welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar participated in separate International Yoga Day celebrations across the state on Sunday.

Sanjay Kumar, who attended the Yoga Day event in Karimnagar, said that India has earned global recognition as the ‘Land of Yoga’.

He observed that people across the world today are facing increasing stress, anxiety, and lifestyle-related diseases, and emphasised that regular practice of Yoga offers an effective solution to these challenges, a release from his office said.

He further called upon people to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives.

Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy extended their greetings on the occasion of 12th International Day of Yoga.

The Governor, in a message, urged everyone to make yoga a part of their daily lives.

“Yoga is an integral part of our rich ancient Indian heritage with immense potential to enhance the physical, psychological, and emotional well-being. It helps achieve a balance of mind, body, and soul. When practised regularly, Yoga leads to the perfect union of body and mind, contributing positively to overall well-being,” the governor said, according to a communique from the Lok Bhavan.

Revanth Reddy urged everyone to practice yoga, an invaluable tool for a healthy lifestyle, and make it a part of their daily lives, the Telangana CMO said in a post on ‘X’.

He said that yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a way of life that keeps the mind, body, and soul in balance.

Kishan Reddy said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has evolved into a global movement for health, harmony, and holistic well-being, inspiring millions across nations to embrace a healthier way of life.

In a post on X, he said, “As we celebrate this year’s theme, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ let us reaffirm our commitment to making yoga a part of our daily routine and harness its transformative power to nurture physical vitality, mental resilience, and inner peace.” A large number of people performed yoga asanas at various events organised to mark the International Yoga Day across the state.
