Aizawl, May 12 (PTI) Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal on Tuesday interacted with NGO representatives and community leaders in Mizoram’s Mamit district, assuring continued support from the Central Government for the welfare and development of Mizoram, official sources said.
Representatives of important civil society organisations, including Young Mizo Association (YMA), Mizoram Upa Pawl (Elders’ Association), Mizoram Hmeichhia Insuihkhawm Pawl (Women’s Association), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (Mizoram’s apex student organisation) and Village Councils highlighted various public grievances, developmental challenges, and other concerns affecting the local communities during the meeting, the sources said.
Meghwal said in the meeting that the Centre remained committed to supporting the people of Mizoram and assured them that all possible assistance would be extended when necessary, it said.
He stressed that improving governance and addressing the problems faced by the public remain among the government’s foremost priorities, it said.
The Union minister also lauded the role of NGOs and community-based organisations in preserving social harmony and contributing to developmental initiatives and working for the welfare of the people, the sources said.
On Monday, Meghwal chaired a meeting with officials to review developmental projects and welfare schemes in Mamit, which is the lone aspirational district.
During the meeting, the Union Minister stressed the need for coordinated efforts to accelerate growth in the aspirational district.
He urged officials to strengthen coordination and ensure that welfare initiatives effectively reach beneficiaries, particularly in rural and remote areas.
The minister also stressed the importance of public awareness campaigns to improve outreach and participation in government programmes. PTI CORR RG
