Latehar (Jharkhand), Jul 16 (PTI) Two youths were killed after a speeding truck hit them in Jharkhand’s Latehar district on Thursday, police said.

The accident took place near Shibatoli on the Ranchi-Medininagar Main Road within Chandwa police station limits.

The deceased have been identified as Tinku Bhuiyan (32), a resident of Khalari, and Mithun Bhuiyan (19) of Salgi-Champi in Lohardaga district.

Chandwa police station officer-in-charge Ashok Singh said the two were standing by the roadside after stopping their motorcycle on seeing the speeding truck, which had apparently gone out of control.

“The truck hit them before overturning. According to locals, the victims were trapped beneath the overturned vehicle. An earthmover was used to lift the truck and retrieve the bodies. They were taken to the nearest Community Health Centre, where doctors declared them dead,” Singh said.

“We are trying to trace the truck’s owner and driver,” the officer said. PTI CORR ANB MNB
