Chaibasa (Jharkhand), Jul 26 (PTI) Two women were killed in a lightning strike while they were working in a paddy field in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred in Jagannathpur block’s Debrasai village on Saturday afternoon when the lightning struck them, a senior officer said.
The deceased, identified as Dashnawanti Hembram and Shukrmani Hembram, were carrying out paddy sowing when the incident occurred, he said.
They fell unconscious and were taken to a hospital at Champua in neighbouring Odisha, where doctors declared them dead, the officer said.
The bodies have been handed over to the family members following the post-mortem examinations, he added. PTI BS BDC
