Thane, Sep 12 (PTI) Two staffers of the Thane collectorate were nabbed by Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly seeking and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 to update address details on the state government’s ‘Aaple’ Sarkar’ portal, an official said on Saturday.
Ganesh Balakrishna More (34), revenue assistant, Registration Section & Setu department, and Khalid Gulab Shaikh (53), peon of the Setu Registration Branch, were held on Friday evening in an operation conducted under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Jaykar, he said.
“The complainant’s wife operated an ‘Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendra’ (Maha e-Seva Kendra) in Mira Road East since 2017. Due to structural dilapidation of the building, they relocated the centre to another shop nearby. On February 23 this year, the complainant submitted an application to the Setu & Registration Branch to update the official address on the web portal and activate their centre ID,” he said.
After the accused sought Rs 50,000 for this work, the complainant approached the ACB. A trap was laid at a tea stall in Jambhali Naka, leading to More and Shaikh being nabbed, the official said.
The two were taken into custody under Prevention of Corruption Act, he said. PTI COR BNM
