Shimla, Aug 6 (PTI) Two people died after the car they were travelling in plunged into a 600-metre-deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district, police said on Thursday.
The accident occurred on Wednesday night on the Hilling-Lamu Road in the remote Lamu Gram Panchayat area of Bharmour after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which then fell into the gorge in the Kileri Kandh area, they said.
A team from the Holi Police Post rushed to the spot after receiving information and retrieved the bodies from the gorge.
Suresh Kumar, 48, and Sanjay Kumar, 36, both residents of the area, died on the spot due to the impact of the crash, police said.
The bodies were taken into custody and sent to the Civil Hospital in Holi for post-mortem examination, following which a case was registered and further investigation is underway, they said.
