Imphal, Oct 25 (PTI) Two key accused in an interstate drug trafficking network have been arrested from Manipur’s Kangpokpi and Bishnupur districts, police said on Sunday.
The two were arrested on Saturday in connection with three FIRs registered under the NDPS Act at Senapati Police Station.
They were identified as Roman Rai (21), who was arrested from Kangpokpi district, and Amit Kumar Thapa (35), who was arrested from Bishnupur district.
Both accused had been absconding for a considerable period and are suspected to be key links in an interstate drug trafficking network connecting poppy cultivators in Manipur with drug traffickers operating in Rajasthan, police said.
A non-bailable warrant had also been issued against Amit Kumar Thapa.
Further investigation is underway to identify and trace other members of the interstate drug trafficking network and establish its wider linkages extending to Rajasthan, police added. PTI COR RG
