New Delhi, Aug 20 (PTI) Two alleged shooters of the Himanshu Bhau gang were injured in an exchange of fire with Delhi Police in Bakkarwala area here, police sources said on Thursday.
The encounter took place during a joint operation by the Crime Branch and Rohtak police, following information that the shooters were coming to the area to carry out a targeted killing, they said.
According to police, the teams intercepted a Mahindra Thar in Bakkarwala based on a suspicion. The driver allegedly tried to flee, but the vehicle met with an accident.
The two occupants then abandoned the vehicle and allegedly opened fire at the police team. Around eight rounds were fired, following which the police retaliated in self-defence, according to the sources.
Both suspects sustained bullet injuries and were apprehended before being taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said two Glock pistols were recovered from the accused.
One of the injured suspects was identified as 19-year-old Sameer, a resident of Rohtak, while the other person’s identity was not yet revealed. Police are probing the intended target, the source of the weapons and the role of other gang members in the incident. PTI BM PRK
