Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 10 (PTI) Two persons were arrested after around 90 kg of ganja was seized from a car in which they were travelling at Vellarada here on Thursday, police said.
The arrested were identified as Akhil and Subeesh, who were intercepted by the Thiruvananthapuram Rural Police’s District Anti-Narcotics and Special Action Force (DANSAF) team in the early hours at a place between Vellarada and Kattakada here.
Though the police could not find the contraband during the initial search, a detailed inspection revealed a special chamber at the bottom of the vehicle, from which multiple packets of ganja weighing around 90 kg were seized, officials said.
Police said the accused had allegedly purchased the ganja from Andhra Pradesh and were transporting it to Keralam through Tamil Nadu.
The police are interrogating the accused to identify others linked to the narcotics network, officials said.
The duo was involved in drug peddling activities before.
Details of the persons who supplied the ganja in Andhra Pradesh are also being investigated, they added.
After completing the necessary procedures, the duo will be produced before a court as part of the remand process, officials said. PTI TBA TBA ROH
