Seoni, Jul 11 (PTI) Two charred bodies, suspected to be of a teacher couple, have been found in a house in Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni district though the identities are yet to be ascertained, police said on Saturday.
The bodies were found at Mohbarra village under Ugli police station limits, about 70 km from here. As it was impossible to recognise them, forensic experts from Jabalpur collected DNA samples to establish their identities, police said.
Superintendent of Police Krishna Lalchandani told PTI that the isolated house where the bodies were found is surrounded by fields and away from the main settlement.
Malti Dhurve (50), a teacher, failed to report for work for two days, so school authorities contacted her sister. When she visited Dhurve’s house, she found two bodies, charred beyond recognition, and contacted police.
Police found blood stains in the house, including near a purse, alongwith drag marks on the floor which suggested that a struggle might have taken place. Two mobile phones were also recovered from the house.
The bodies are believed to be those of Malti and her husband Saman Dhurve (52), also a teacher, though the identities will be confirmed only after the report of the DNA examination and forensic analysis is available, police said.
Lalchandani said the preliminary investigation did not indicate the involvement of an outsider.
Police have informed the couple’s family members, including their two sons, about the incident, and further probe is on, the SP said. PTI COR LAL KRK
