Mirzapur (UP), Jul 15 (PTI) Two men were killed and a woman seriously injured on Wednesday after the motorcycle they were travelling on rammed into a divider on the Varanasi-Rewa National Highway near a village under the Lalganj police station area, police said.
Sushil Saket, 30, and Sanjay Chaturvedi, 31, both residents of Madhya Pradesh’s Mauganj district, along with Rupali, 28, a resident of Indore, were returning after offering prayers in Varanasi when the motorcycle lost control and crashed into the divider, Station House Officer Ved Prakash Pandey said.
The impact was so severe that Saket and Chaturvedi died on the spot, while Rupali sustained serious injuries, the officer said.
On being alerted by passers-by, the police and an ambulance rushed to the spot and shifted the injured woman to the Community Health Centre in Lalganj.
She was later referred to the Mirzapur Trauma Centre after doctors found her condition to be critical, Pandey said.
