TN logs 42 new COVID-19 cases

Chennai, May 19 (PTI) Tamil Nadu on Thursday recorded 42 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the cumulative infections in the state to 34,54,764.

Twenty seven men and 15 women in the state tested positive through RT-PCR test today, according to a bulletin from the state health department here. The toll, however, remained unchanged at 38,025.

Including 41 people who got discharged after treatment today, the net recoveries in the state rose to 34,16,417. The number of active cases remained 322.

Chennai accounted for a maximum of 23 new infections, followed by Chengalpattu with 5, Tiruvallur: 3, Coimbatore and Kancheepuram: 2 each, while Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Erode, Kanyakumari, Nilgiris, Salem and Virudhunagar recorded one case each, respectively, the bulletin said. PTI JSP ROH ROH
