Chennai, Jul 13 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay inspected the activities of the MTC electric bus workshop in Vyasarpadi here on Monday and enquired about the ongoing works specially designed to handle the upcoming e-bus operations.
The initiative focuses on reviving Chennai’s public transport system.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to purchase low-floor electric buses with an air conditioning facility in the coming days and operate them for the convenience of the passengers.
The workshop area includes a newly established MTC electric vehicle charging station located near the Vysarpadi Metro.
The Chief Minister’s inspection aligns with his recent mandate directing the transport department officials to upgrade the fleet with air-conditioned electric buses.
During his visit to Perambur, Vijay launched a series of welfare and infrastructure projects including a renovated MLA office, an e-service centre, and a major state-wide digital ration card distribution drive.
