Giddalur (Andhra Pradesh), August 1 (PTI) Within three days of a tigress being found dead in the state, another tiger carcass has been found with its limbs and nails missing, a forest official said.

Nisha Kumari, Deputy Director, Project Tiger Division, Giddalur, said a tiger’s carcass was reported on Friday by the Forest Range Officer (FRO), Gundlakamma, in the Racherla Section.

“A tiger was found dead on July 31 in the Gundlakamma Range. Limbs along with claws of the tiger were missing. Exact cause of death is under investigation,” an official release issued by Kumari on Saturday said.

A case has been registered under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, she said.

Following the National Tiger Conservation Authority’s (NTCA) standard operating procedures and guidelines, forest officials conducted the postmortem and collected samples for forensic analysis, the release added.

A detailed investigation is underway from all possible angles to ascertain the exact cause of death, she further said.

On Wednesday, an adult tigress was found dead in the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR) in Nandyal district. Forest officials had then said all the body parts of the tigress were intact and the cause of death was under investigation. PTI MS STH ADB
