Hathras (UP), Aug 16 (PTI) Three people lost their lives and four others, including a child, were injured when a speeding car overturned in the Sikandara Rau police station area in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday.
Police said that seven people had set out from Noida in the car to attend a funeral in Unnao.
According to the police, the car, travelling from Noida to Unnao, overturned near Umravpur village on the Etah Highway during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
The vehicle was being driven by Ramji (26). Besides Ramji, the occupants included Avadhesh (62), Jagatpal (50), Rajiv Kumar (33) along with his wife Goldi (30) and son Naksh (two-and-a-half years old), and Maya (35), wife of Nekpal.
When the car reached the Etah Highway near Umravpur village, the driver allegedly lost control due to high speed, and the vehicle overturned. Ramji, Awadhesh, and Jagatpal died in the accident, while Rajiv Kumar, Goldi, their son Naksh, and Maya sustained injuries.
Upon receiving news of the accident, police arrived at the spot, and the injured were immediately taken to the Primary Health Centre in Sikandara Rau.
After receiving first aid, all four injured individuals were referred to the district hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Circle Officer (CO) Amit Pathak confirmed that three people died and four were injured when the car overturned on the Etah highway.
The CO said that all the injured are undergoing treatment at the district hospital and are out of danger.
