Balodabazar, Oct 26 (PTI) Three persons were killed and at least eight others suffered injuries after a bus crashed into a stationary truck in Chhattisgarh’s Balodabazar-Bhatapara district on Monday, police said.

The accident occurred around 5.30 am near Darchura village under Simga police station limits when the private bus carrying 22 persons was heading from Ambikapur to Raipur, a police official said.

The truck had broken down and was parked on the road. Traffic cones were placed around it to alert approaching drivers, but the bus driver apparently failed to notice them and the vehicle hit the truck’s rear end, he said.

Three bus occupants were killed and eight to 10 suffered injuries, the official said.

Police personnel, ambulances and rescue teams were rushed to the spot.

The injured passengers were extricated with the help of gas cutters and other equipment before being taken by ambulance to a government hospital in Simga, he added. PTI COR TKP GK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
