Ballia (UP), Aug 31 (PTI) Families of three people from Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district, including a woman and her son, have appealed to the Centre for help in tracing them after they went missing in the aftermath of the floods in Nepal.
Priyanka, a resident of Beur village in the Bansdih tehsil area, has sought help from the government to locate her husband Govind Kumar Bharti, who has been missing in Nepal since the tragedy.
Priyanka said on Monday that she married Govind only four months ago and last spoke to him on August 26. He had promised to return home on September 15.
Govind had gone to Nepal for work about a month after their marriage, she said.
His father Sumer is distraught over his disappearance, while his mother Chinta Devi has appealed to the Centre to help trace her son. Govind and Priyanka were married on May 1.
In another case, Pannalal Chaurasia’s wife Jagdara alias Usha Devi (54) and their 18-year-old son Rahul, residents of the area near Purani Masjid in Rasra, are also missing in Nepal.
Pannalal had moved to Nepal around 40 years ago in search of employment and later started a clothing business in Trishuli Bazaar in Nuwakot. His family gradually settled there.
Rahul was pursuing his studies and also helped his father at the shop.
According to the family, Rahul had prepared tea for his father at around 6 am on Thursday, as usual, before Pannalal left for Batars for exercise. His wife and son remained at home and at the shop at the time.
The family later received information that Usha and Rahul had been swept away in the floods, leaving their relatives in shock.
Pannalal has two daughters. Shivani Chaurasia, 24, is married and lives in Varanasi, while his other daughter, Diksha Chaurasia, 28, runs a cosmetics shop in Rasra and is married to Sameer.
Diksha said she remained hopeful that relief and rescue operations would yield some information about her mother and brother.
