Thieves decamp with cash, silver idols worth over Rs 2 lakh from temple

Thane, Aug 8 (PTI) Unidentified persons allegedly stole cash and silver idols from a temple at Ambarnath in Maharashtra’s Thane district, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place at Heramb temple between 9.30 pm on August 6 and 6.30 am the next day, they said.

“The miscreants broke into the temple and decamped with the cash, silver idols and other items collectively worth Rs 2.27 lakh,” an official of Shivaji Nagar police station said.

The caretaker of the temple lodged a complaint, based on which a case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), he said. PTI COR NP
