Thane, Sep 12 (PTI) More than 40 representatives from housing societies along Gladys Alvares Road and surrounding areas on Saturday met an official of Maha Metro and opposed the alignment of the Thane Ring Metro Project (TRIM).
They demanded a new alignment away from Gladys Alvares Road to an adjacent Development Plan Road along the foothills.
Metro Line-4 is already within walking distance for them, they pointed out, contending that laying tracks through Gladys Alvares Road would affect over 50,000 residents, reduce tree cover and damage underground utility networks.
They also opposed a metro station in front of residential complexes.
Maha Metro official Suresh Pakhare told the delegation that the construction work on this stretch will remain suspended until a final decision is taken. PTI COR KRK
