Hyderabad Oct 25 (PTI) Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Sunday slammed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for planning to attend the Congress rally against SIR of electoral rolls in Delhi on November 1, accusing him of neglecting the state’s rainfall deficit crisis linked to El Nino.

Revanth Reddy’s plan to travel to Delhi with 15, 000 ruling party leaders from Telangana in a special train is akin to “Nero fiddling while Rome burnt”, he said.

“While people are dying of water shortage, farmers are suffering because their crops are drying up, our Chief Minister of Telangana, he plans protest on some other issue which is not even connected to people of Telangana,” Rao told PTI Videos.

Accusing the Chief Minister of being unconcerned about farmers and the people, he condemned Reddy’s decision to attend the rally.

“The Congress rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi is aimed at spreading falsehood, hatred in society and sponsored by some unknown sources”, he said.

Earlier, Rao said the BJP would organise rallies, ‘padayatras’ in the state to expose the Congress’s “false narrative” over SIR and its attempts to provoke the country’s youth.

He had said ‘Save Democracy – Fight against anarchy’ is the main theme of the rallies. They are planned to be conducted in five cities and towns in the state. PTI SJR ROH

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
