Hyderabad, Sep 28 (PTI) Nine people were apprehended here in connection with the alleged illegal hunting of a blackbuck and transportation of its meat, police said on Monday.
Preliminary enquiry revealed that the group had travelled to the Marikal forest area near Narayanpet, where the blackbuck was hunted before its meat was transported to Hyderabad, a release from Future City Police Commissionerate said.
In a joint operation by the Shadnagar Police and Forest Department officials, the suspects were intercepted near Raikal Toll Plaza while travelling towards Hyderabad.
During the checking, the teams seized around 13 kg of blackbuck meat, one .315 rifle fitted with a telescopic sight and silencer, 19 rounds of ammunition, two vehicles, eight smart phones, one camera, two torch lights and Rs 28,590 cash, the release said.
A case was registered under relevant sections of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and the Arms Act.
