Hyderabad, Aug 22 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and a team from the University of Cambridge on Saturday agreed to explore collaboration in education, research and entrepreneurship in Hyderabad.

Reddy, who is currently visiting the UK, held a meeting with an academic team from the University of Cambridge, which he described as highly fruitful, a CMO release said.

The CM, along with IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and senior officials, presented the “fascinating opportunities for best global institutions” in Hyderabad and invited Cambridge to join the “creation of a top global knowledge hub”, it said.

Prof Jaideep Prabhu, Government of India-sponsored Chair of Marketing at Cambridge Judge Business School, and Prof Venkata Serish Gandikota, CJBS and co-chair of Frugal AI, expressed keen interest in partnering with Telangana, the release said.

“The two sides agreed on setting up a framework for collaboration involving offering education in Hyderabad, research, and incubation of entrepreneurship,” it said.

Earlier, Corporate Directors of City Development, Liverpool — Susan Finnegan and Nuala Gallagher — along with their colleagues from Liverpool Football Club, met Reddy in London.

“Liverpool is keen to build a strategic partnership with Telangana, focused on life sciences, technology, sports and the creative economy. A Liverpool delegation will visit Hyderabad in October to formalise the partnership,” the Telangana CMO said in a post on ‘X’.

The CM Revanth Reddy-led delegation visited the Senate House at the University of London for a round table.

Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and officials met the delegation from University of London, including teams from London School of Economic & Political Science (LSE) and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), and others.

The UoL is working on building a campus in Hyderabad to offer a wide bouquet of educational courses and programme from various schools and departments that make its academic federation, an official release said.

Later, CM Revanth Reddy and Minister Sridhar Babu visited the famous Ambedkar House in London (where Ambedkar lived in 1921-22).

“Visiting Dr Ambedkar House is like a pilgrimage. The inspiration is for a lifetime. I feel renewed dedication for social justice,” wrote Reddy in the visitor’s diary, an official release said.

The Ambedkar House is now a museum dedicated to the ideals of Ambedkar – Constitutionalism, equality, a casteless society, without oppression, and supremacy of social justice.

“It has been one of life’s great moments… to be able to see and touch a personal aspect of one of the greatest Indians ever born,” the CM said.

Separately, former state Chief Secretary and government advisor K Ramakrishna Rao visited Imperial College London.

During his meeting with Amanda Wolthuizen, Vice President for Strategic Engagement, and Rosanna Gillespie, Senior International Relations Manager (South Asia and Australasia), Rao highlighted Telangana’s strengths and outlined opportunities for collaboration.

Amanda, who is also Chief of Staff to the College President, expressed interest in exploring several opportunities, including short-term and executive education programmes in Hyderabad, as well as collaborative research and exchange programmes, a press release said.

Rao invited them to Hyderabad for the Invest Telangana Global Summit, scheduled from December 7 to 9 this year, it said.

Imperial is a world-leading university specialising in science, technology, engineering and medicine, as well as business, it added.

On August 21, Reddy invited the University of Oxford to bring its executive education programmes and specialised research capabilities to Hyderabad and set up a centre in the city.

The CM, who visited the institution as part of his UK tour, held talks with Professors Maya Tudor of the Blavatnik School of Government and Faisal Devji of Balliol College.

He outlined his government’s ‘Telangana Rising’ vision and the state’s plans to transform Hyderabad into a global education hub. PTI SJR SJR KH

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
