Hyderabad, May 6 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday directed DGP C V Anand to ensure that public movement is not disrupted during the movement of his convoy and those of other dignitaries across the state.

The CM emphasised that people should not be made to wait on roads for prolonged periods due to convoy movements, a release said.

Reddy expressed concern over severe traffic congestion near the Hyderabad airport while he was proceeding to Delhi.

Taking serious note of the situation, he instructed the DGP to initiate action against officials responsible for lapses and ensure that routine public movement is not affected due to convoy arrangements.

He also directed that vehicles coming from the opposite direction should not be stopped unnecessarily, and that traffic should be regulated in a manner that minimises public inconvenience.

He stressed strict action against officials found negligent.

Following the CM’s directions, the DGP held a video conference with all Sub-Inspector-level and above officers of the Law and Order and Traffic Police across all commissionerates and issued instructions.

Anand said the CM’s repeated concern highlights the seriousness of the issue and urged field officers to address it with utmost priority.

The DGP said a dedicated traffic bureau will soon be established under an Additional DGP to strengthen traffic management across the state, and that modalities are being finalised.

He advised officers to regulate traffic smoothly during convoy movements instead of halting vehicles completely, and to plan alternative routes, especially during peak hours.

Anand also stressed the need for heightened vigilance around airports.

In view of the upcoming monsoon season, the DGP directed officials to take preventive measures against water stagnation to avoid traffic congestion. Officers were instructed to remain on the ground, make prompt decisions, and maintain public confidence.

He further made it clear that illegal parking on the Outer Ring Road will not be tolerated, the release added. PTI VVK SSK
