Hyderabad, Jun 8 (PTI) Accusing Union Minister G Kishan Reddy of creating hurdles in the Telangana government getting approvals for development initiatives from the Centre, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said BJP MPs will not win the next Lok Sabha elections if they stall the state’s progress.
Addressing a public meeting on Monday after laying the foundation stone for the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation office building here, he also alleged a tacit understanding between the BJP and the BRS.
“My appeal to Kishan Reddy and (BRS president) Chandrasekhar Rao. You cooperate with the government, give suggestions, but don’t stall Telangana’s development with your lies, arrogance and corruption. Telangana’s youth is observing your tacit understanding,” he said.
He claimed that whenever he meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Ministers on the state government’s development proposals, Kishan Reddy meets them three days later only to scuttle the proposals.
Kishan Reddy does not join him in meeting other Union ministers, the CM alleged.
The Union Coal Minister tells his cabinet colleagues that the Congress government would earn goodwill and return to power if they sanctioned development projects, he claimed.
“Telangana people would give a verdict in such a way that there will be no political survival for those who stall the state’s development. None of you (BJP MPs) would be able to go to Delhi (by winning elections),” he said.
He asked whether the eight BJP MPs from Telangana don’t have the responsibility to obtain funds and approvals from the Centre. It is the election of eight BJP MPs from Telangana which enabled “Narendra Modi to become Prime Minister”, he said.
The state’s development projects, including the expansion of Hyderabad Metro Rail, cleaning of the Musi river and transfer of the Godavari river water to Hyderabad, need Central funds and sanctions, he said.
Revanth Reddy said he is ready for a debate in the Assembly on his performance during the last two and a half years, the 10-year BRS rule, and the 12-year rule of Modi.
Alleging that the five metropolitan cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru are beset with civic problems, he said Telangana needs to learn lessons from those cities.
“Since pollution is not controlled in Delhi, schools, government offices, parliament, and the PM’s office are closed. Similarly, the country’s economy runs from Mumbai. Not only traffic jams, but people get stuck on roads for hours together if it rains heavily…. Mumbai faces such a situation that you have to travel not in cars but in boats if there is a downpour,” he said.
Though Bengaluru is an IT hub, it cannot be said with certainty when one reaches the airport from home or from the airport to the office, he said.
Because of the traffic problem in Bengaluru, major companies are shifting to Hyderabad, he said.
“We saw last year. When it rains in Chennai, apartments, residential colonies and government offices are filled with water. For a week, one had to travel in water, in boats. Kolkata, I don’t have to tell you. Law and order situation is such that it cannot be said whether a person who has gone out would return (home),” he said.
After grasping the problems in these cities, the state government appointed an expert committee to make suggestions for the state’s development. The committee submitted the ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ policy document, he added.
Talking to reporters earlier in the day, Kishan Reddy hit out at the chief minister’s Hitler remark, saying Congress leader Rahul Gandhi makes tall claims but undermines institutions, including the Election Commission, Parliament and the Army. It has “become a habit” for leaders of the Grand Old Party to speak against the country.
Congress has seen a sharp decline under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, and the party would lose power in the remaining few states, he said.
Revanth Reddy’s remarks two days ago that he drew inspiration from Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler while naming HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency) sparked a political row with the BRS and the BJP, strongly criticising him.
On Revanth Reddy’s recent remarks that southern states do not have adequate representation in the Centre, he said the BJP does not need to learn lessons from the CM and that the Vice President, Union Finance and External Affairs and other key ministers belong to persons from the south.
