Thane, Sep 17 (PTI ) A 17-year-old boy from Ulhasnagar in Thane district died of dengue complications while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kalyan West, following which an Accidental Death Report (ADR) was registered, a police official said on Thursday.
Yug Krishna Dhamne died in Fortis Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, the official said.
“As per his father Krishna Namdevrao Dhamne (70), who runs a mattress business, Yug recently developed high fever and was taken to their local family doctor, who recommended a blood test. The pathology reports confirmed that Yug was suffering from dengue,” he said.
On September 13, Yug was admitted to Goongi Hospital on Gandhi Nagar Road in Ulhasnagar, but doctors there advised that he be shifted to a super-specialty facility for advanced treatment after his health deteriorated significantly on September 15, the official said.
“He was taken to Fortis Hospital in Kalyan (West) on September 16. Despite medical intervention, duty doctors examined the youth and declared him dead at 1 pm the same day during treatment. Following the teenager’s demise, the matter was reported to the local authorities,” the official said.
An Accidental Death Report was registered at Bazarpeth police station under Section 194 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The section deals with accidental deaths and those that have taken place under suspicious circumstances. Dengue is a notifiable disease in the state.
