Pathankot, Jul 5 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said the sacrifice of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee strengthened the unity and integrity of the country and his vision was realised with the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a function in Pathankot, Punjab, to mark Mookerjee’s 125th birth anniversary, Saini said Mookerjee devoted his life to the cause of national unity and integration.

He said Mookerjee opposed the permit system for entering Jammu and Kashmir and gave the slogan, “Ek desh mein do vidhan, do pradhan aur do nishan nahin chalenge.” He added that the BJP-led central government fulfilled Mookerjee’s dream by revoking Article 370 in August 2019.

Highlighting the Centre’s welfare initiatives, Saini said schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Digital India, Skill India and Make in India had improved healthcare, technology access, employment opportunities and industrial growth.

He also highlighted Haryana government’s initiatives, claiming nearly two lakh youths secured government jobs without corruption and that the state expanded healthcare facilities by establishing medical colleges.

Targeting the Punjab government, Saini alleged that several promises made to the youth, farmers and women remained unfulfilled.

He claimed Haryana procures all 24 notified crops at the minimum support price (MSP), provides compensation for crop losses and extends financial assistance to women.

He said the BJP is seeking an opportunity to serve the people and expressed confidence that Punjab would regain its past glory. PTI VSD MNK MNK
