New Delhi: The conversation around millennials seems to be refusing to die down, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s remark last week triggering a social media meme fest. Whether or not India’s young are spending enough to boost the economy, Swiggy found a marketing opportunity in Sitharaman’s comment.
After Sitharaman linked the millennial mindset and use of Uber and Ola cab services to the auto sector slowdown, social media erupted with a series of memes, hashtags and witty quips.
From #SayItLikeNirmalaTai to #BoycottMillenials, twitterati was relentless in its sarcasm.

Swiggy’s customer service messaged only added to the barrage.

While experts are yet to agree on whether Sitharaman’s statement was on point, the millennial jury is out — they’re making it a running joke.
