Kolkata, Oct 5 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday said he has urged Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu to introduce direct flights connecting Kolkata with the UK and other European countries and increase air services at Andal airport in Durgapur.
Adhikari made the remarks in the presence of Naidu at a programme where the West Bengal government signed an agreement with the Civil Aviation Ministry for implementation of the regional connectivity scheme UDAN in the state.
The chief minister said the state government was ready to provide land for expansion of airport infrastructure.
He also said the government has identified 2,000 acres at Kalyani for development of a new airport near Kolkata. PTI SCH SOM
