New Delhi, Aug 15 (PTI) The BJP on Saturday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address as “superb and outstanding”, saying he presented a “comprehensive roadmap” for building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ rooted in the spirit of ‘Nation First’.
Home Minister Amit Shah said the prime minister gave the mantra of ‘Saptadhara’ — seven streams of strength to propel the nation to new heights and achieve self-reliance across all sectors, while highlighting the “unprecedented progress” made over the past 12 years in sectors such as semiconductors, critical minerals, energy and railway transportation.
“On the 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation, presenting a comprehensive roadmap to build a developed India in the spirit of ‘Drug-Free India’, ‘Secure India’ and ‘Nation First’,” Shah said in a post on X.
The home minister said Modi announced initiatives to provide AI skills to more than one crore youth in a single year, establish a network for free online coaching and launch a talent hunt campaign for the 2036 Olympics to channel the potential of the youth.
The prime minister also set “ambitious targets”, such as achieving 100 gigawatts of nuclear power capacity and establishing eight new semiconductor units by 2047, he said.
Modi also apprised the nation of the government’s success in cracking down on armed Naxalites. However, he emphasised the need to identify and isolate the so-called ‘Dimagi Naxallites’ who are seeking to incite violence and anarchy, Shah added.
“Driven by the resolve for ‘Swadeshi’, prosperity and ‘atmanirbharta’ (self-reliance), Modiji’s address will prove to be a milestone in the nation’s journey to becoming a leader across all sectors,” the home minister said.
The 100-day ‘Nashamukt Bharat’ campaign uniting the might of the country’s youth, and social and spiritual organisations will strengthen the prime minister’s vision of “shielding our youth from the scourge of drugs”, he added.
In a post on X, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the prime minister’s address to the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort was “simply superb and outstanding”.
Modi in his address clearly underlined that India’s journey towards a Viksit Bharat is guided by a clear vision and unwavering commitment, the senior BJP leader said.
“From Aatmanirbharta and Make in India to energy security, cutting-edge technology, manufacturing and defence; from empowering youth with AI skills and innovation to strengthening connectivity, the green and blue economy and India’s soft power, the roadmap is definitely ambitious and comprehensive,” the defence minister said.
“His resolve is firm and clear: reform with conviction, empower the youth, strengthen our nation and make India a global powerhouse,” Singh added.
Union minister Nitin Gadkari said the prime minister in his address highlighted the country’s youth power and outlined the vision and efforts directed towards a ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
In his address, Modi spoke of the ‘Saptadhara of Shakti’ (seven streams of strength) and called upon the people to join hands in giving fresh momentum and direction to the resolve of building a developed and self-reliant India, Gadkari said.
“His address today will undoubtedly infuse new energy into the nation’s youth power and the resolve of a young India,” the senior BJP leader said in a post on X.
BJP president Nitin Nabin said Prime Minister Modi presented a “clear roadmap” to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort to realise the resolve of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
“A ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India) by 2047 is no longer just a dream. It is a national goal set to be realised through the capability and resolve of 1.40 crore citizens,” Nabin said in a post on X.
Union minister Piyush Goyal said the prime minister’s “powerful” Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort has set an “execution-first” roadmap for Viksit Bharat 2047.
“This has set the tone for high-speed action across industry, technology and youth empowerment… We must pledge to make our factories more competitive, our products more user-friendly and our packaging the best in the world,” the commerce and industry minister said on X.
“Cost, quality and scale must become the buzzwords of industry. For our MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises), textile and seafood exporters, this is a call to leverage India’s FTAs (free trade agreements) and capture global markets today, not tomorrow,” he said.
