New Delhi, Apr 23 (PTI) Addressing Shri Ram College of Commerce’s 100th Annual Day, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu said on Thursday that the college must foster innovation, inclusivity, and policy-relevant research in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

In his address, Sandhu reflected upon the historical role of SRCC as a hub for leadership, critical thinking, and nation-building.

“With its strong foundation and forward-looking vision, SRCC must contribute even more significantly to India’s evolving landscape by acting as a bridge between the academic world and the professional sphere,” Sandhu said at the event held at the Shridhar Shri Ram Auditorium.

In her welcome address, College principal Simrit Kaur highlighted the institution’s focus on interdisciplinary education, global engagement and leadership development aligned with emerging national priorities. Chairman of the college’s governing body, Ajay S Shriram, recalled SRCC’s legacy and outlined plans to expand infrastructure, enhance hostel facilities for women, promote entrepreneurship and deepen alumni engagement.

“As our Prime Minister has rightly observed, the purpose of education extends beyond merely imparting information; its fundamental objective is to cultivate character, creativity, and the capacity for deep, critical thought,” Shriram said.

The celebrations concluded with a prize distribution ceremony recognising student achievements in academics, research and extracurricular activities, followed by cultural performances. PTI AHD SMV ASD
