Imphal, Aug 5 (PTI) Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Wednesday said sporting excellence continues to promote the state’s prestige on the national and global stage, an official statement said.
Singh made the remarks during his meeting with Commonwealth Games 2026 silver medalist Jadumani Singh Mandengbam at the chief minister’s secretariat.
During the meeting, the chief minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to pugilist Singh for his outstanding achievement, which has brought laurels to both the state and the nation, and conveyed his best wishes to him ahead of the Asian Games 2026, the statement said.
He also expressed confidence in his ability to secure a gold medal.
Lauding the “sports movement” in Manipur, the CM remarked that sporting excellence continues to promote the state’s prestige on the national and global stage.
“We are immensely proud of our sportspersons,” he said, while promising them all possible support from the government.
Later, Jadumani Singh expressed his gratitude for the chief minister’s encouragement and motivational guidance.
He also noted that the interaction had further strengthened his resolve to deliver an exceptional performance in future competitions.
He also appealed to the people of the state to extend their good wishes for his campaign at the upcoming Asian Games in Japan.
